Exhibit Hall Redesign

The Winona County Historical Society is undertaking a major overhaul of their entire museum. OES and Brown Knows Design worked closely with the client team through Conceptual Design and Schematic Design. Through these two design phases, the OES team held brainstorming sessions and content development workshops with the client team in a collaborative effort to define what stories they would like to tell, and how best to utilize their existing assets to accomplish the most successful museum experience for their visitors.

 

OES kept the visitor experience top of mind, creating flow between each topic area, private moments of reflection alongside family and child engagement activities. A particular focus of the new museum concept is transparency in the depiction of the past harms done to Native tribes in the area, while supporting visitors as they assimilate what may be new information. Winona County Historical Society’s efforts extend to an ongoing relationship with an advisory board.
